Review in 2019

It’s already January 2020. When I write the date, it’s awkward to write in 2020 instead of 2019. I was thinking about whether I should write a review of 2019 or not. It is already a little bit late; however, I’m writing it now. In 2018, I decided to start meaningful projects to benefit myself in 2019. Some sections of the projects were postponed, while some were accomplished. It was in 2019 when I had various experiences and met diverse people.
JSConf Korea
I don’t think I can talk about 2019 without mentioning JSConf Korea. I still had memories of the great experience I had at the JSConf EU in 2018, so I decided to host JSConf in Korea. Since I had no previous experience in organizing a conference, and it was the very first JSConf to be held in Korea, JSConf Korea organizer friends and I had to create everything from scratch. During the process, I asked lots of people for advice and wisdom. Jan Lehnardt, the JSConf Family, and Pycon Korea organizers. They were very understanding and supported us immensely. Given that almost all the JSConf Korea staff already have full-time jobs, we had to spend our free time preparing for the conference. We experienced a lot of challenges and tried different awkward things. At some point, I was worried that we might not succeed. However, since we had the same goals, we were able to help each other. As a result, we progressed step by step by complementing each other’s strengths. It was a difficult time, but it was fun, and we were proud of ourselves. I want to give thanks to the people who supported us.
Music
I love music; therefore, I decided to work on some projects related to music in 2019. I got an opportunity to participate in the p5.js contributor conference in Pittsburgh. During the event, I joined the music and code performance group. It was so awesome. I met friendly and warm people at the conference. I also got inspired so much and it broadened my view. It was such an inclusive and warm conference. On my way home, I had so many ideas. I learned music production and did a small experimental project after the conference. I want to continue my experimental project in 2020 and explore music and code in live performances.
Driving License
Since I don’t need a car in Seoul, and I like to walk, I postponed my plan of getting a driving license. I declared, “I will get it 2019!” to my colleague. But sadly, December has already passed. Now It’s the year 2020. Can I get my driving license this year?
In 2020
In 2020, I hope I can move out of my comfort zone and have a broader view. Also, I want to adjust to a new environment. It will be an exciting year.
